Captain for electric ferry to Bolmsöleden (temporary)

We are now looking for dedicated personnel for one of our yellow ferries - join us in making Sweden closer. The ferry company is undergoing a transformation process towards electrification, climate adaptation, automation, and digitalization, where you will play an important part in this journey.

We are currently seeking a captain for an electric ferry for intermittent employment on the Bolmsöleden in Småland. The Bolmsöleden operates between Sunnaryd in Jönköping County and Bolmsö in Kronoberg County across Lake Bolmen. The ferry route is 1,000 meters long, and the crossing time is ten minutes. As an intermittently employed staff member, you will be called upon on an hourly contract when needed.

The position includes standard captain duties. As a captain, you are responsible for reporting any incidents, accidents, and other deviations. You are also responsible for ensuring that the ferry is seaworthy and properly staffed.

Our electric ferries have a one-person crew, which places high demands on independence and initiative. With an analytical problem-solving ability, you see what needs to be done and act accordingly. Onboard the ferry, you are also our face to the public, which requires a high degree of service orientation.

You are motivated by active teamwork, where you responsibly take charge of your tasks while being attentive to how you are part of and contribute to the whole by collaborating with others.

We are looking for someone who

• has a ship's officer class VIII, engineer B degree, or ship's engineer class VIII
• has completed basic safety training according to STCW Manila
• has a valid medical certificate for seafarers with deck service, at least for inland waters
• has a VHF radio certificate (applicable to most ferry routes)
• speaks and writes Swedish fluently
• is experienced in using digital tools and support systems
• has Swedish/Nordic/Swiss/EU citizenship
• is over 20 years old at the start of employment

It is advantageous if you

• have higher qualifications/training or other experience that we deem relevant
• have experience with maintenance systems such as AMOS
• have experience working on road ferries
